Recap of my 2023…

, ,

This is a year for the books. I started the year on a couch. One that I had given to someone and now sleep on it. Because I am literally homeless per society’s view, the biggest problem is that I had a nice job, but one car finance company couldn’t process a payment. Having sleazy landlords cheating the rental assistance program didn’t help with coming into 2023.

Let’s begin 2023…

So having left my last rental after the new landlord cheated me and the Rental Assistance program out of money and dodged calls from them, I had to put everything in storage and move in with my mother in a 1 bedroom apartment. Talk about feeling bad, but it also hit me that we judge those who do things that should be perceived like they are. Being 50 and living with your mother isn’t a good look. Well, today’s economy is hard.

I moved out, and once out of work for a few months doing only plasma visits and trying to apply for unemployment. I got a job but eventually left after a few months due to one chef not being able to handle pressure or anything really. Back again attempting to apply for unemployment. This string continued for a few more months til the current crappy job that I am at now. They don’t give out hours past 32, so I am trying to make more money on side hustles than work another job over 1!

With a few months out of work, a house and a car, and no contact from my kids for the 2nd year. I finally got a job and am still there for now, but next year I plan on switching things up. Since the job cares more about their bottom line than the workers, yet some of the workers have a different work ethic so there’s that.

Summer 2023 was brutal…

For the summer of 2023, it was rather lame on my part, but the rest of the world had other ideas. Plenty of shootings, political grandstanding, and other natural things. Yet climate warming is still not real to some…

For the most part, I had gotten a job, but after a few months went down to less than 30 hours. While there were heatwaves and big storms, not to mention a few earthquakes. Naturally, things were bad, but for me, I started my path on fixing Google Merchant Center’s “misrepresentation” issue. That is still not fixed, but not trying to show up there right now anyway. Facebook ads have been doing well for now.

Summer projects…

I ended up during this time as well to figure out what I needed to do to make some extra money or gain followers. Well, I ended up doing some Twitch streaming for a little bit. I also started the Uni-T store during this time and did okay out of the gate. Till the ‘misrepresentation’ issue showed up. Mostly to fix the issue is to correct some mockups and metadata details. One step at a time and keep resending the sitemap now and then. At least I will be looking into streaming again late at night. Mostly on the console or PC. While working on posting more on the blog. I haven’t posted since before Thanksgiving! Need to fix that again…LOL

So now that I have figured out summer and it started to get into the later part of summer, I looked into learning a new skill. So I ended up starting with Ruby. I wanted to create something I was working on with Raspberry Pi boards. Then once Thanksgiving came and went, I ended up working on the Full Stack Developer path. While I did a few things during the MySpace days making them do all kinds of things. CSS back then was a little crazy. All of this while trying to either get more hours or find another full-time job!

Ready for 2024…

So basically I went down further in this hole, but also managed to pay off a lot of my debts, and got some help on my student loans which helped. Just the repo that I was underwater in, it didn’t help along with the other repo. Above all of that, I do plan on a few trips in order to get out and do something fun on a beach. Regardless of the language. The biggest learning experience for me was to keep going, take breaks from it all, and try to make it all work. The biggest takeaway I can tell everyone is to literally take a day at a time and make sure you are ready. Not just what everyone else wants. Be safe take care of yourself and keep moving forward! It will happen!
